Francalanci chiarisce che la parola latina janus indica un passaggio coperto (come nell’arco). Ciò vale anche in riferimento alla divinità Giano, da rappresentare in via bifronte (mentre presiede ai bivi, ai trivi, ai quadrivi ecc…). Egli guarderebbe in avanti e nel contempo all’indietro. Immediatamente accadrà lo stesso, ove s’apra una porta. Il famoso motto del Conosci te stesso, stampato sull’architrave d’un tempio a Delfi, certo invitava l’uomo ad entrare dall’esteriorità alla sua interiorità. L’artista Jimmie Durham ama installare una porta scorrevole, ricavata da una sola parete. Chi entra, inevitabilmente tornerà al punto di partenza. L’artista ironizza, appesa la scritta che recita Go Back – You have another chance. Victoria è inquadrata prima di varcare la “falsa” porta. Lei ha le scarpe che si percepiscono in via “siamese”. La mano sinistra risale verso il petto. Lì, forse, si potrà visualizzare il “dubbio” d’un < Ma tocca proprio a me, d’entrare? >…

 
Francalanci explains that the Latin word janus indicates a covered passage (like in the arch). That’s also a reference to Janus god, which can be represented in a two-faced way (while it presides over the places where two, three, four etc… roads meet). He would look backwards and in the same time forwards. Immediately the same will happen, when we open a door. The famous maxim Know thyself, imprinted on the architrave of a temple in Delphi, certainly invited men to enter from the exteriority to his interiority. The artist Jimmie Durham loves to install a sliding door, obtained by only one wall. Someone who enters, inevitably will come back to the starting point. The artist lampoons, hanging the writing that recites Go back – You have another chance. Victoria is framed before she crosses the “false” threshold. She has the shoes that are perceived in a “siamese” way. The left hand goes back up the chest. There, perhaps, we could visualize the “doubt” about this sentence: < Really is it my turn, to enter? >…

La “fotografa” Laxmi Dalamal viene da Londra, avendo origini indiane. All’inizio lei studiò Gestione aziendale presso la Bentley University, per poi diplomarsi all’Inchbald School of Design. Laxmi ora vive a Londra. Lei lavora stabilmente come interior design.
