Il fiocco sta sulla propria guancia – The bow stays on its cheek

Khaled Hosseini describes Mariam, stretched out on the sofa with the hands between the knees, and staring at the snowflakes which whirl out of the window. That becomes a metaphor for every sigh of a woman, when she needs a social emancipation. Gloria posed for a photography in black and white. She lays down prone, on the sofa. We like imagining a “whirl” of the head (slightly sloping) into the “small window” of the hair as “a curtain”, between the neck and the right elbow. The natural light symbolically pounds on the < turn the other cheek >. Actually it seems that Gloria keeps “to… herself”. She will surely stare at something on the other side respect us, if nothing else beyond the window. The left hand “breathes a sigh” with the fingers, receiving the light while it “probes” the “bows” of the design through the soft “kneeling” of a pillow. Overall that is a dynamism for a spinning top, which will involve also the shoulder and the armpit. If the left hand waits for a support, first of all we should hear it. We can evaluate the centrality of the ear, even as a “bow” of its own for the face “wrapped” by the light. Perhaps will we recognize a “small spinning top” of the incommunicability, from the existentialism?
