John Edgar Wideman ironizza su chi, entrato in acqua senza vestiti, rischi d’essere “scoperto”, da altri nel frattempo sopraggiunti in spiaggia. Quanto peseranno i buoni “costumi” dei residenti in periferia, e lontano dalla più “secolarizzata” metropoli? Dopo le nuotate da nudi, bisognerà correre a tirar su il pareo arancione, dalla cesta di vimini, od a tirar giù dal ramo i boxer ancora umidi… Fortunatamente, pure i nuovi arrivati si spoglieranno, buttandosi in acqua come le foche! Pare che Guzel stia correndo in spiaggia. E’ una piacevole giornata di sole. Guzel indossa il bikini, e con la mano sinistra tiene un pareo. Questo ha una decorazione parimenti solare, in cui spicca l’arancione. La mano destra quasi “palleggerebbe”. Guzel sorride, e si diverte al cospetto del suo “spettatore”. E’ per noi facile percepire che lei giochi a pallacanestro, grazie al pareo in cui fare la “schiacciata”. Le ruspe hanno livellato la spiaggia, tracciando le corsie della pista. La foca ovviamente striscia. John Edgar Wideman giocò a pallacanestro a buoni livelli.

John Edgar Wideman makes light of someone who, entering naked in water, risks being “discovered”, by someone else meanwhile arrived on the beach. How much will the good “customs” of the residents in the suburbs, and far away from the more “secularized” metropolis, carry weight? After swimming naked, somebody will have to run to pull out an orange sarong, from the wicker basket, or to bring down, from the branch, the boxer shorts still damp… Fortunately, also the newcomers will get undressed, jumping into the water like the seals! It seems that Guzel is running on the beach. There is a pleasant day of sun. Guzel wears the bikini, and through the left hand she holds a sarong. This one has a decoration equally sunny, where the orange stands out. The right hand almost “would dribble”. Guzel smiles, and she has fun in the presence of her “spectator”. So we easily perceive that she plays basketball, through a sarong where she can do a “slam dunk”. The bulldozers levelled the beach, tracing the lanes of a track. A seal of course slithers. John Edgar Wideman played basketball at good levels.
