La macchina fotografica è la raccolta “sgattaiolata” d’un riposo – The camera is a gathering “sneaking out” of a rest

Agnes Varda realized a short film where her cat, Zgougou, at the beginning is framed from above, looking rapidly from offstage to us. How much will we be able to reconvert an image so calmly domestic, to provide documentary evidence for example of the problem of poverty? Maybe, Agnes Varda wants to pledge that she firsthand has a sensitivity for the others, starting with her cat… This animal loves climbing up and sneaking in, so ideally overtaking the “borders”. We see that Zgougou lies on the computer of Agnes Varda. There, the logo of her production company appears. Then, Zgougou rubs against the encyclopedic page that indicates a gleaning, also reproducing a famous painting of Jean Francois Millet, where people framed are very humble, by their low class origins. Barbara caresses a black cat, that calmly is resting. Principally, it climbed the sculpture of a camera, realized by artist Luc Trizan in Saint-Paul de Vence. Our gaze can fall on the lens. Perhaps, we will imagine the fingers at spikes of Barbara, “gathered” caressing the soft fur of the cat. Luc Trizan asks explicitly to smile, for the photographer who portrays. Barbara is certainly “sensitive” to the cat. Luc Trizan sculpted a camera really big. How much will its lens arrive to importune our presence? The contemporary society is always more built on the gathering of the personal data. We are made heavier by the technology. We can “sneak out” of the eye dangerously universal of the Big Brother, but only taking a moment’s rest. There, nothing of morbidly interesting will happen! Through the support of the creativity, Agnes Varda argued that a computer, a camera and a cat are enough to allow her living.
