Lido d’incudine sul batacchio ondoso – Lido’s anvil on a wavy clapper


Citiamo la poesia di Seamus Heaney dal titolo La fucina. Egli sente il timbro acuto dell’incudine martellata. Nel contempo, avverrà l’improvvisa sventagliata di scintille, col ferro a forgiarsi nell’acqua (che serviva ad urtare il maglio). L’incudine per Heaney sarebbe inamovibile come la “sola fantasia” d’un unicorno. Essa si percepirà a “sacrificare” la vitalità del fabbro, sul proprio altare. Ma le scintille diventerebbero musicali. L’incudine avrà l’unicorno rimpiazzato… dalla nota, o forse un batacchio fra “le onde” della campana, in via spiritualizzante. Lydia è inquadrata in una stanza, quasi “affiorando” verso il soffitto. I toni blu favoriscono la percezione d’un ambiente acquatico. Una sorta di “tosaerba” avrebbe disperso i propri steli, a scintillare come le bolle che, trafitte, “stracciano” immediatamente la loro elasticità. I capelli biondi di Lydia si potranno percepire in via “pallidamente solare”, riaffiorando. Noi immaginiamo che lei tenga per mano “un incudine”. La pettinatura rievocherà il segno grafico della nota musicale. La testa avrebbe la propria codetta.

We mention the poem called The forge, of Seamus Heaney. He hears the hammered anvil’s short-pitched ring. In the same time, there will happen the unpredictable fantail of sparks, with a shoe toughened in water (that was used bumping into the power hammer). An anvil according to Heaney would be immoveable as the “only fantasy” of an unicorn. It will be perceived “sacrificing” the blacksmith’s vitality, on its altar. However the sparks would become musical. The anvil will have the unicorn replaced… by a note, or maybe a clapper between the “waves” of a bell, in a spiritualistic way. Lydia is framed in a room, almost “emerging” into the ceiling. Blue colours favour the perception of an aquatic ambient. A sort of “lawnmower” would have dispersed own stalks, sparkling as the bubbles that, pierced, immediately “rip up” their elasticity. The blonde hair of Lydia can be perceived in a way “palely solar”, emerging. We imagine that she holds in hand “an anvil”. The hairstyle will evoke the graphic sign of a musical note. The head would have an own codetta.

Il fotografo internazionale Steven Klein nasce nel Rhode Island (USA) nel 1965. Inizialmente egli studiò pittura. In seguito, Steven passò alla fotografia, lavorando per le campagne pubblicitarie di marchi molto importanti, come Calvin Klein, Dolce & Gabbana, Louis Vuitton, Nike, Alexander McQueen ecc… Le sue fotografie furono esposte presso le prestigiose Brancolini Grimaldi Gallery e Gagosian Gallery. Steven ha lavorato poi con Madonna, Tom Ford, Brad Pitt, Lady Gaga (spesso associando dei video agli scatti).

    ‹ All I know is a door into the dark.
    Outside, old axles and iron hoops rusting;
    inside, the hammered anvil’s short-pitched ring,

    The anvil must be somewhere in the centre,
    horned as a unicorn, at one end and square,
    set there immoveable: an altar
