Nel 1960, il poeta Celan scrisse il saggio dal titolo Il meridiano. Egli nacque in Bucovina, ma questa ormai era scomparsa dalle carte geografiche, divisa politicamente fra la Romania e l’Ucraina. Celan avrebbe dovuto cercare una poesia per immagini u-topiche (senza luogo). Noi conosciamo i meridiani terrestri. Con questi, s’uniscono tutti i luoghi che abbiano il mezzogiorno contemporaneamente. Il meridiano a Celan pareva quasi “eccezionalmente” terrestre. Esso permetteva ai luoghi di tornare sempre a se stessi, sotto l’universalità della Luce, che li “abbracciasse” nella loro “fratellanza”. La Bucovina, banalmente spartita dalla politica, era diventata immaginaria. Nel linguaggio della poesia, i singoli significati “si rincorrono” fra di loro, per universalizzarsi sul nulla d’una comprensione che “giri” sempre… intorno a se stessa. E’ la metafora del meridiano, anche perché la Bucovina subì una divisione da nord a sud. Nella fotografia di Jenna, noi vediamo principalmente il braccio sinistro. Qualcosa da percepire come un “paletto”, che sostenga il mezzobusto “nel suo tendaggio”. C’è la triangolazione ottusa fra la schiena, il volto ed il gomito destro. Nel contempo, la bretella sulla spalla consentirebbe alla mano sinistra di sventolarsi, nella loro proiezione. Virtualmente, è la configurazione d’una meridiana. Il braccialetto simboleggerà il mezzogiorno. L’orecchino serve a bilanciare visivamente la mano destra. Entrambi “stringono” il braccialetto, permettendone la rotazione. In alto, l’anello sarà la classica punta dello stilo. Jenna ha il corpo passivamente prono. Sembra che lei “fumi”… con l’anello, cercando un momento di relax. Ciò conferma la percezione d’un corpo senza posto, ma per “intercettare” il massimo “abbraccio” con l’illuminazione interiore.

In 1960, poet Celan wrote an essay called The meridian. He was born in Bukovina. But it was by the time disappeared from every maps, politically divided between Romania and Ukraine. Celan would have to look for a poetry through u-topian (without a place) images. We know the terrestrial meridians. Through these, all the places are united by showing us simultaneously a midday. The meridian seemed to Celan almost “exceptionally” terrestrial. It allowed places to always come back in themselves, under the universality of Light, which “embraced” them as “brothers” each other. Bukovina, split in a banal way from politics, became imaginary. In poetic language, the single meanings are in “running after” each other, to be universalized in the nothing of a comprehension which always “turns”… around itself. That’s a metaphor of meridian, also because Bukovina suffered a division in north and south. In Jenna’s photography, we see principally the left arm. Something that we perceive as a “pole”, to support the head and shoulders “in its curtains”. There’s an obtuse triangulation between the back, the face and the right elbow. In the same time, a strap on shoulder would allow the left hand to fan itself, through their projection. Virtually, that’s a configuration of a sundial. A bracelet will symbolize the midday. An earring is necessary to balance optically the right hand. Both of them “press” the bracelet, allowing this to rotate. Above, a ring will be the typical tip of stylus. Jenna has a body passively prone. It seems that she “smokes”… through the ring, looking for a moment of relax. Something that could confirm the perception of a body without a place, but to “intercept” the biggest “embrace” with an interior illumination.

After a short stint in advertising photography (for large companies in the USA), she turned her main focus to boudoir photography. Dana is also an Alto First Singer in the Seattle Ladies Choir, and has a happy home life, with her partner and two cats.

Dana Kae Jonas s’è “trapiantata” a Seattle, in quanto originaria di Chicago (USA). Lei ha un diploma di laurea in Fotografia Commerciale. Prima, Dana studiò psicologia per molti anni. Dopo una breve esperienza in fotografia pubblicitaria (per grandi compagnie, negli USA), lei s’è principalmente indirizzata alla fotografia boudoir. Dana inoltre fa la Prima Cantante Alta per il Seattle Ladies Choir, vivendo felicemente a casa, col suo compagno e due gatti.
